Embodied Alignment Monthly Class
Saturday, August 19, 10am to noon (upper body including spine, ribs, core, shoulders and neck)
The Embodied Alignment classes examine human movement with a curious eye towards our sedentary culture, habits in our posture and simple adjustments that can have profound changes. In short, you'll put into your body what you need to move well.
We'll learn basic corrective movements (calf stretch, anyone?). We'll look at bodies to see what these movements mean (your flat feet can be a great teaching tool!). We'll discuss ways to integrate more movement into our lives by reducing our attachment to convenience (how about sitting on the floor to read this paragraph?).
If time and weather permits, and if the group is interested, we can walk to Rogers Park to use our skills in a natural landscape after our class. This will add another 90 minutes to our time together. You are welcome to come to the class ($25), the class and the walk, or just meet up with us for the walk (free to all).
Erin suggests that you become familiar with the Nutritious Movement perspective by reading any of Katy Bowman's material (books, blogs, articles). Erin has a 200 hour certificate from Katy Bowman of Nutritious Movement, as a certified Restorative Exercise Specialist.
